December Snow

December Snow

Sunday, December 05, 2010

The day began clear and below freezing. The best job in the fields was to be burning the pruned vine clippings. Worker burning pruned vine clippings in winter vineyard maintenance

Unknown to the field workers, the migrating birds over head were causing power outages in the office. Massive flock of migrating starlings creating dramatic aerial formations

The starlings move in the air, just as schools of fish in the sea, creating fantastic shapes that are daunting to their predators.Artistic capture of starling murmuration against colorful sunset skySoon the snow hit. The dogs thought, this needs to be inspected. Dog investigating fresh snowfall with head down sniffing the ground

As for pruning the vines, the work continues regardless of the weather. Snow-covered vineyard rows during winter pruning work
