Encore: Autumnal Colors

Encore: Autumnal Colors

Wednesday, November 12, 2008

The vivid autumnal colors of the vines never cease to amaze me. The vines seem like a sea of gold.

A vibrant, golden-yellow vineyard in autumn, with hints of red and green in the leaves, creating a sea of gold.

The other colors are so intense that they deserve notice: burnt orange, ruby red, lime green, and brilliant yellow.

With the cranes migrating overhead, it is hard to choose what to take in visually.

A large flock of cranes flying in formation against a pale blue sky during their autumn migration.

Today we had this rainbow. It makes me wonder what it looked like from the crane's perspective so high above.

A partial rainbow arcing through gray storm clouds above the countryside landscape.

The vineyard is always in motion. The fermentation is coming to a close and the pressing has begun. The 2008 vintage shows great promise. Meanwhile there is much work to do in the vines, but it is important not to miss the beauty of nature.

A single crane in flight with wings fully extended against a soft blue sky, showing the elegant form of the migrating bird.
