We began the harvest Tuesday Sept. 28th, a cool crisp morning, with much enthusiasm. Thierry has been with Chateau Plaisance for more than 11 years. He is energetic and hard working.
Jasmin has been with us for over 22 years, very dedicated to the vines. He is shown here pouring his hand cut bunches. For Bastien, it is his first harvest.
The merlot is the first to come in. The cabernets will be the last to be brought in. Each bunch is chosen individually and examined for the slightest imperfection. What a sight to see it all begin and be a part of this exceptional year.
Once they are loaded onto to the tractor, it is a short trip to the chateau.
Now we remove the stems and begin sorting the grapes. The weather is with us, no rush, so we can bring in each field only when it reaches perfect ripeness.
I just love working the harvest.
