Fog covers the vineyard just a few days before Christmas. It is a soft blanket that slowly lifts during the day.

Dramatically on Christmas the vines are iridescent with icy frost, no fog, not a cloud. The classic eggshell blue sky over head makes the rows of vines shimmer in the sunshine.

A few roses continue to bloom like ornaments along side the rows of vines. Garlands of cobwebs accentuated by the frost each morning make the vineyard seem decorated as only nature can do. Crisp air adds to the spirit of the holidays.

On the 26th of December we were treated to a rare snow shower. Our dogs loved it.

Looking towards 2009, we are aware that autumn sea of golden leaves is but a memory. Only a few lonesome leaves can be found, held in place by ever-tenacious tendrils.
The new and the old seem to be the theme as the New Year approaches.
The newly planted vine has its red wax cap protecting it until the spring growth begins. The older surrounding vines where planted over 45 years ago. They stand as a testament that we can grow with strength and grace and be fruitful.

Happy New Year!
