In the last ten days the vines have flowered and have set tiny pearl size grapes.
As the growth advances, the work needed to keep up can seem daunting. In this photo you can see that they need a second tucking in between the wires.
After that is done, it is obvious that long shoots need to be trimmed.
It is a joy to be a part of putting each field in order.
For us, the work in the fields is the basis for making a fine wine.

It is unavoidable to compare with fellow vineyards.
We see other fields neglect a treatment for mildew or skip cutting the grass between their vines. Some people use machines for many tasks, where we do them by hand.
They claim that if it does not put money in their pockets, why do it.
Sometimes we can hear the angry tone of other workers, while we have laughter.
Everyone endures the same pressures, but there is no friction among our workers.
We pour our energy and hearts into the wine and you can literally taste the result.
Then the wine critics arrive. Some receive high marks even though the wine is obviously not what the mark was based on. They know how to “play the game”. So we continue to swim with the sharks. Since we are not willing to sell our souls, we remain focused on the wine.
We will market it properly and let it speak for itself. It is truly elegance in a glass.
