This month our oenologist, Jean-Philippe Fort met with us. Placed before him were the samples of our 2008 vintage. All of the small bottles represented the entire 2008 harvest. Noted on each sample, was the specific parcel of land it came from and the type of barrel it was aged in, along with the type of grape; merlot or cabernet sauvignon or cabernet blanc. The unique qualities of each barrel are evident. The soil types of each field along the microclimate plays into the taste of the samples before him.
Jean-Philippe is clearly impressed with the development of this vintage. He then sets in place how we will blend the wines before bottling. Up until this final blending, each variety of grape along with the differing parcels of vines have been kept separate. His ability to taste and know the outcome is beyond skillful. He has a very finely tuned palate and his heart for the wine is evident. We are at a loss to express fully what he means to us and our wine.
We are excited about the excellent potential of the 2010 vintage.

Blue skies and no rain in the forecast. The weather is perfect.

The following are the tasting notes given to us from Robert Parker:
The 2008 Plaisance exhibits sweet black currant and black
cherry fruit intermixed with noteworthy minerality
and spice box. This medium-bodied, elegant, pure, nicely
textured effort can be drunk over the next decade.
